The Discovery Process
Welcome! We’re really glad you’re here.
We look forward to getting to know you and seeing how financial planning could help.
The process is simple and designed to make things easy from the start.

Next steps
Step 1: Is this the right fit?
Start by making sure this is the right fit. Review the Motif process page to see how our services work and what ongoing financial planning looks like.
Our service is built around an ongoing relationship that covers your full financial picture. It’s a deeper level of support that helps you make progress year after year, but it’s not for everyone.
If that sounds like what you’ve been looking for, then you’re in the right place.
Step 2: Book a Discovery Call
Book a 60-minute discovery call to talk through your goals and see if working together makes sense.
During the call, we’ll talk about what’s most important to you, what’s working, and what’s not.
I’ll also share how Motif Planning works and how I can help with your specific situation.
Step 3: Do your research
Before our Discovery Call, take a little time to get familiar with how I work and what to expect. This will help you feel confident and ready to make the most of our conversation.
Everyone learns differently, so I’ve included a few options:
- Watch a short video introduction to Motif Planning (<8 minutes)
- Read about the value of working with us (4 minutes)
- Browse this document detailing what working together looks like (7 minutes)
These resources will answer common questions like:
- What does financial planning actually include?
- What are your qualifications?
- How are you compensated?
- How often will we meet?
Step 4: Decide
If you’re ready to move forward, we’ll send the agreement and set up your first onboarding call.
Some people feel ready after the Discovery Call and want to get started right away. Others prefer an extra conversation to think through questions or details and that’s perfectly fine too.
