Financial Planning Services for High Income Families in Dallas

Motif Planning helps dual income families in Dallas build a clear financial plan, then keep that plan moving as life changes. We specialize in providing financial planning services in Dallas for families who want guidance through every stage of their financial journey.

A motif is a recurring idea that builds into something bigger. Your financial life works the same way.

Small decisions around taxes, savings, investing, benefits, insurance, college, and estate planning shape your family’s long term options.

What we help with

Cash flow

Strong income does not always create clear cash flow.

We help you decide how much to spend, save, invest, give, and hold in cash. We also help you build a system for bonuses, RSUs, raises, childcare costs, home projects, and major purchases.

Tax planning

A high income can create a high tax bill.

We help you make tax decisions before the year is over. This may include 401(k) strategy, HSA planning, backdoor Roth IRA coordination, charitable giving, equity compensation timing, tax loss harvesting, AMT exposure, and planning with your CPA.

Employee benefits

Your benefits package can be worth a lot. It can also be easy to overlook.

We review your 401(k), HSA, ESPP, insurance options, deferred compensation, open enrollment choices, and employer benefits so they fit your larger plan.

Executive compensation

Your compensation may include RSUs, stock options, bonuses, deferred compensation, or an ESPP.

We help you decide what to keep, what to sell, how to plan for taxes, and how to avoid letting one company stock dominate your family’s net worth.

Investing

You do not need to chase the market.

We help you build a long term investment strategy based on your goals, time horizon, risk tolerance, tax situation, and account types. You implement the portfolio. We guide you step by step.

Insurance

Your family needs protection that matches your income, lifestyle, and risks.

We review life, disability, umbrella, home, auto, health, and long term care insurance where relevant. The goal is simple: protect your family without overpaying for coverage you do not need.

College planning

College planning starts long before your child fills out an application.

We help you decide how much to save, which accounts to use, how 529 plans fit, and how education funding connects to retirement, taxes, and your family values.

Retirement and work optional planning

Retirement planning for high income families often starts with one question: when does work become optional?

We help you understand how much you need, what accounts to use, how taxes may change, and how career choices today affect flexibility later.

Major life decisions

Money decisions get bigger when your family grows.

We help you think through home purchases, private school, childcare, career changes, parental leave, inheritance, family support, and one spouse stepping back from work.

Estate planning coordination

Your estate plan should protect your family if something happens.

We coordinate with your estate attorney around wills, trusts, guardianship, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, account titling, and your family’s “red file.”

Charitable giving

Giving intentionally can reduce taxes and increase impact.

We help you build a strategy for annual giving, donor-advised funds, and estate-level gifts that reflect your values and fit into your overall financial plan.

Coordination with your financial team

Your CPA, attorney, insurance agent, and financial planner should not operate in silos.

We help connect the dots so your tax plan, estate plan, insurance, investments, and family goals work together.

The Motif Planning process

1. Discovery call

We start with a 60 minute video call.

We talk about your family, income, career, taxes, investments, benefits, and what made you reach out.

2. Agreement

If it feels like a fit, we send the client agreement.

The annual fee is $10,000, billed monthly at $834. Billing begins on the 1st of the month.

3. Data organization

You upload your financial documents to a secure client portal.

We organize your accounts, tax documents, insurance, estate documents, employee benefits, compensation details, and planning priorities.

4. Fact check

We review your information together.

This gives us a shared view of your family’s financial life before we make recommendations.

5. Vision session

We talk through your values, goals, tradeoffs, and what your money needs to support.

Then we create your statement of financial purpose.

6. Plan development

We build your financial plan.

This includes tax planning, investment strategy, cash flow, benefits, equity compensation, insurance, college planning, retirement projections, and estate coordination.

7. Plan presentation

We walk through your plan, answer questions, and prioritize next steps.

You leave with a clear order of operations.

8. Implementation

We help you take action.

That may include adjusting 401(k) contributions, setting up backdoor Roth IRAs, changing insurance, selling RSUs, updating beneficiaries, opening 529 plans, coordinating with your CPA, or organizing your estate plan.

9. Ongoing planning

We meet at least twice per year and stay available when decisions come up.

You also get proactive planning around tax deadlines, open enrollment, investment updates, life changes, and new opportunities.

Why work with Motif Planning?

We are a flat fee, advice only financial life planning firm. You pay for advice, not products or assets under management. You always know what you are paying and what you are getting. Every recommendation is made in your best interest with no commissions, sales goals, or hidden incentives.

Our approach is holistic. We start by helping you define your vision and statement of financial purpose before we talk about numbers. When you are clear on what matters most, decisions about saving, investing, and spending become much easier.

We look at your entire financial life before offering advice: income, equity compensation, taxes, benefits, insurance, family priorities, and long term goals. Real planning connects all the pieces and helps you live intentionally, not reactively.

Clients work with us because they want a trusted partner who pays attention throughout the year, watching for tax law changes, benefit updates, and opportunities to act. We help you stay organized, confident, and focused on what gives your life meaning.

Motif Planning serves clients virtually across the United States with a specialty in executive and equity compensation.

We take your goals seriously and make financial planning feel human.
